WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th August, 2018) The United Nations will receive a briefing on a reported secret guidance that bans the world body from helping to restore Syria, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a news briefing on Monday.
Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the UN Secretariat secretly directed the world body's divisions from taking part in the efforts to restore Syria's economy.
"When it is a secret directive, it always takes me awhile to try to find if actually there is a secret directive," Dujarric told reporters. "I expect to have an update a bit later on this afternoon."
Lavrov said the Kremlin has sent a request to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to make it clear why a ban has been ordered, adding that any attempts by certain countries to manipulate the UN Secretariat are unacceptable.

Military operations against to defeat the Islamic State continue in some regions in Syria, political reconciliation and rebuilding have emerged the forefront of issues concerning the country.
