WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th March, 2019) The US Army is constructing a huge new facility for the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGIA) in St. Louis projected to cost more than $711 million over the next five years, the Department of Defense announced in a press release.

The project had been identified as vulnerable on a list assembled by Democratic staffers last month, the Kansas City Star reported. The funding was in jeopardy of being allocated to build a wall on the US southern border in accordance with a recent executive order issued by President Donald Trump.

"McCarthy HITT - Next NGA West JV [of] St.

Louis, Missouri was awarded a $711,651,970... contract for construction of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's new facility," the release stated on Tuesday.

Work on the project will be performed in St. Louis in the US state of Missouri, with an estimated completion date of April 24, 2023.

The NGIA is a combat support agency under the Department of Defense and a member of the US Intelligence Community, with the Primary mission of collecting, analyzing, and distributing geospatial intelligence in support of national security.
