WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th January, 2019) The United States is making progress on trade talks with China and the parties are moving on the right track, National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow said in an interview.
"We've made some progress with China... in the meeting in Beijing," Kudlow told Fox news on Friday. "We're moving on the right track."
On January 9, the Office of the US Trade Representative said in the latest round of trade negotiations Beijing pledge to purchase more US goods as an effort to alleviate tensions between the United States and China.
In December, Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed during a meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Argentina to call a truce in their escalating trade war. Xi promised to fix the trade imbalance issue with the United States by starting to purchase US agricultural products. Trump agreed to suspend plans to increase tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese products from 10 percent to 25 percent while the countries attempt to negotiate a compromise on several issues during the trade talks.
