US Environmental Protection Agency Funds 3 Projects to Reduce Old Diesel Engine Emissions

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th November, 2018) The US Environmental Protection Agency said in a press release that it is funding three projects to reduce air pollution from old diesel engines in the United States.

"Today, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced funding for three clean diesel projects totaling $4.7 million to reduce air pollution from aging diesel engines in the Mid-Atlantic region," the EPA said on Tuesday.

The funding will go to the Maryland Environmental Service, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Air Management Association and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, the release said.

Environmental group Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) expressed some skepticism in a separate statement on Tuesday.

NRDC Director for Clean Vehicles and Fuels Luke Tonachel said given the Trump administration's poor record in protecting public health, it will be watching closely to ensure the EPA follows through with its work.
