Washington is fabricating yet another pretext to once again introduce sanctions against Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Saturday.
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th October, 2018) Washington is fabricating yet another pretext to once again introduce sanctions against Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Saturday.
On Friday, US Justice Department said it had charged Russian citizen Elena Khusyaynova with conspiracy to meddle in the upcoming 2018 US midterm elections.
"We understand that Washington is fabricating a pretext to once again apply their notorious sanctions against our country.
The United States clearly overestimates its own capabilities. Demonstrating hostility toward Russia and treating the whole world contemptuously, they will only get more and more harsh resistance," Ryabkov said in a commentary published on the ministry's website.
He noted that the US authorities continued to frighten their own citizens and international community with Russian "hackers and bloggers," accusing yet another Russian citizen of trying to influence the sentiment of US voters.
