GENEVA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th December, 2018) Organizers of the 2019 World Economic Forum (WEF) welcome the decision of the Russian delegation to participate in the event, Alois Zwinggi, the managing director and head of compliance at WEF, adding that the organizers have taken all the necessary measures to make sure that Russian citizens who have fallen under sanctions and decide to join the delegation will be staying in the country legally.
A source in the Russian government told Sputnik on Saturday that the Russian delegation would attend WEF because the restrictions imposed on Russian business people by the event's organizers had been lifted.
"We are pleased to learn that Russia also will send a high level governmental delegation to Davos. To address the pressing global challenges we need all relevant parties at the Annual Meeting ... Should the delegation include individuals under sanction, all necessary measures have been undertaken to ensure that their presence would be fully compliant with current legal conditions," Zwinggi said in a statement obtained by Sputnik.
WEF is set to take place in the Swiss city of Davos on January 22-25.
