An unknown woman staged on Saturday an explosion near a checkpoint in Russia's Chechen Republic capital of Grozny, no people were killed or injured in the incident except the attacker, acting head of the Chechen Interior Ministry said.

"On the outskirts of Grozny an unknown young woman exploded herself," Apti Alaudinov told reporters.

According to the official, the incident took place at about 4:00 p.m. local time (13:00 GMT) when the young woman came to the Federal police post ignoring officers' demands to stop. She staged the blast after warning shots.

Investigators are now trying to identify the attacker and looking for her possible accomplices. The incident has not resulted in additional security measures in the city.
