IDEX, NAVDEX 2019: UAE Armed Forces awards deals worth more than AED4.971 billion

ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 17th Feb, 2019) The UAE Armed Forces awarded AED4.971 billion in contracts on the first day of the International Defence Exhibition and Conference, IDEX 2019, and Naval Defence and Maritime Security Exhibition, NAVDEX 2019, with the lion’s share of deals going to national companies.

Speaking at a press conference Staff Brigadier-General Mohammed Al Hassani, Official Spokesperson of IDEX 2019, and Naval Staff Colonel Fahad Nasser Saif Al Thehli, Official Spokesperson of NAVDEX 2019, announced 33 deals worth more than AED4,971,082,582.

National companies received 18 of the 33 deals, while the remaining 15 were awarded to international companies.

Total contracts with international companies stood AED3.867 billion which were: A contract was signed with the American company Raytheon to buy AED1.307 billion worth of Patriot missiles for the UAE Air Force and UAE Air Defence Force; spanning two-years, an AED45.922 million contract with the Russian Joint Stock Company for maintenance work and to buy Pantsir spare parts for the UAE Air Defence Force.

A contract was signed with the Russian Joint Stock Company to buy AED146.920 million worth of EM150 Kornet missiles for the UAE Army; a contract with the Swiss company Rheinmetall worth AED6.836 million for technical support in Skyguard air defence product for the UAE Air Force.

An AED193.500 million contract was inked with French company Nexter Systems for technical support with Leclerc tanks; an AED86 million contract with the French company Safran Electronics & Defense to buy spare parts and provide maintenance and repair works for Leclerc tank telescopes, as well as armoured PMP-3.

An AED6.062 million contract was signed with the French company Thales Group to replace batteries and extend the life of mines; an AED50.320 million contract with the Korean company Hanwha Group for the purchase of explosives and supplements to open loopholes in mine fields and sites of various types for the UAE Army.

An AED204.857 million contract was awarded to the Jordanian company King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau to purchase missiles and training rounds for the UAE Army; an AED1,161,958,938 contract was given to the Australian company EOS Defence to purchase ground and naval systems particularly EOS RWS 30mm for the UAE Army, Navy, and Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authority; an AED38.700 million contract with the German company Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH to provide technical support services for tactical engagement simulations.

An AED77,004 million contract with the American company HESCO to purchase defensive shelters for the UAE Army; an AED404.030 million contract with the American company Lockheed Martin to add capabilities to the radar system for the UAE Air Force; an AED10.

284 million contract was signed with the American company Paramount Logistic to purchase four Mbomb for the UAE Army; an AED127.085 million contract was awarded to the Indian company Ordnance Factory to purchase ammunitions (155mm HE) and accessories (PRIMER M191-A2) for the UAE Army.

Total contracts with UAE companies: AED1.104 billion, which were: An AED55,512,000 was signed with Al Fattan Ship Industry to purchase naval ships for the UAE Navy; an AED3,600,000 contract with Emirates Shooting Equipment to purchase electronic targets for the UAE Armed Forces; an AED4.210 million contract with Al Fahad Security Systems to install and maintain security systems for the UAE Armed Forces; an AED80,000,000 contract with the National Factory for Safety and Security Products to purchase army footwear.

An AED15 million contract was signed with Bin Hilal to provide technical support and spare parts for mine sweepers; an AED42.297 million contract was signed with the International Golden Group (IGG) to purchase ammunitions for the UAE Armed Forces; an AED95 million contract was awarded to the International Golden Group (IGG) to supply and install electronic shooting systems for the UAE Armed Forces.

An AED5 million contract was signed with the International Golden Group (IGG) for maintenance works on the central laboratory systems; an AED7,759,216 contract was awarded to NIMR for vehicle maintenance works for the UAE Armed Forces; an AED19,120,500 contract was given to Bermuda to purchase technical training equipment for medical personnel.

An AED56 million contract was signed with Emirates General Transport for maintenance works, and provision of spare parts for UAE Armed Forces vehicles; an AED239 million contract was signed with Knowledge Point to provide specialised cadres and advisory services, as well as enhance capabilities for the UAE Armed Forces; an AED99.171 million contract was signed with Deena Shipping to purchase training ships and provide training services for the UAE Navy; an AED41.656 million contract was given to Caracal International to buy sniper rifles and technical items for the UAE Armed Forces.

An AED9.855 million contract was signed with Khalid Faraj Company for the provision of marine transport services, support services and spare parts; an AED300 million contract was awarded to the International Golden Group (IGG) to supply military clothing, accessories, and related services for the UAE Armed Forces; an AED25 million contract was given with Rohde & Schwarz to provide technical support by providing experts and technicians specializing in information technology; an AED6.200 million contract was signed with Trust to provide technical support services for the formulation and supply of spare parts of the Tatra and Hummer mechanisms.
