
5,023 Illicit Weapons Recovered, 12,036 Accused Apprehended In ICT

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st August, 2016) : Police have recovered 5,023 different types of illicit weapons from 12,036 accused persons in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) during five years (January 2011 to December 2015). Of the total arrests during the period, the ICT Police registered 4,414 cases.
Year-wise detail of recovered illicit weapons issued by Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control has revealed that during 2011 Capital Police registered 875 cases, 922 cases were registered in 2012, 844 in 2013, 831 in 2014 and 942 cases were registered during 2015. Similarly, 880 persons involved in illicit weapon cases were arrested during 2011, 925 in 2012, 850 in 2013, 8434 in 2014 and 947 persons were apprehended during 2015.
With regard to types of illicit weapons recovered, the data showed that during last five years, the total number was 164 Klashnikov, 55 rifles 44 bore, 43 rifles 222, 61 rifles 7/8 mm, 3,730 pistol 30 bore, 184 revolvers 32 bore, 527 guns 12 bore, 38 carbines, 214 knife etc, two rifles Mark-lll, four rifles MP-5 and one rifle AK-47. As regards disposal of these weapons, the same are deposited in Saddar Mallkhana.
However, after court's decisions and expiry of appeal period, these weapons are deposited with District Nazar for auction in accordance with law.
