CAA DG Asked To Hold Inquiry About Audit Paras Due To Negligence

The Sub-committee of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Monday directed the Director General of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to hold an inquiry into audit paras of the Aviation Division, created due to negligence of an individual and submit a report to it
The sub-committee's meeting was chaired by Member of the National Assembly Syed Naveed Qamar to discuss the audit reports of Aviation Division and Aviation Authority for the year 2016-17.
Naveed Qamar directed the DG CAA to conduct an inquiry into Rs 4,073.650 million losses to the Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIAC) as per the audit paras due to defective agreements inked with the travel agents.
The committee also directed the DG CAA to hold another inquiry into $ 5.
720 million losses to the PIAC of overcharging by a service provider and despite the passage of many years no steps had been taken by its management for its recovery.
The committee also asked for settlement of paras of Rs 2,570,897 million, Rs 1,249.81 million, Rs 46.200 million and Rs 44.416 million respectively subject to verification of the Auditor General.
The CAA Director General informed the committee that the business plan of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had been finalized.
Naveed Qamar observed that he had been hearing about the business plan for the last many years but no practical steps had been taken to improve the FIA's financial health.
