Foreign Minister Calls Iraqi Counterpart To Resolve Visa Difficulties For Zaireen

Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi Friday called his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Al-Jaafari to discuss the difficulties being faced by Pakistani pilgrims in getting visas for the forthcoming Arbaeen (Chehlum) religious observance in Iraq.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Oct, 2018 ) :Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi Friday called his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Al-Jaafari to discuss the difficulties being faced by Pakistani pilgrims in getting visas for the forthcoming Arbaeen (Chehlum) religious observance in Iraq.
The foreign minister appreciated the cooperation extended by the Embassy of Iraq, which had already issued over 41,000 visas, according to a Foreign Office statement.
He mentioned that since a large number of applicants were still awaiting visas, it would be appreciated if their cases were processed expeditiously.
Foreign Minister of Iraq thanked the foreign minister for his call and felicitated him on assuming the office and wished him success.
He expressed hope that during his tenure, the bilateral relations between the two countries would prosper and strengthen.
The Iraqi foreign minister assured that the instructions would be issued to the mission in Islamabad to expedite the processing of visas for Pakistani pilgrims for Arbaeen.
The Iraqi foreign minister also extended an invitation to Foreign Minister Qureshi to visit Iraq.
Earlier in the day, the foreign minister met ambassador of Iraq and highlighted the visa difficulties of the pilgrims.
