Suspected Congo Patient Tested Positive After Death

A suspected Congo patient, who died a few days ago at Nishtar Hospital, was tested positive on Monday, said DHO Dr Khalil Sakhani.
RAJANPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jul, 2018 ) :A suspected Congo patient, who died a few days ago at Nishtar Hospital, was tested positive on Monday, said DHO Dr Khalil Sakhani.
Abdul Kareem (45), a resident of Jampur with high fever was referred to Nishtar Hospital where he passed away on July 25 at isolation ward, informed Dr Khalil.
He stated that it was first case of confirmed Congo patient in tehsil Jampur, adding that health, livestock and district administration have started precautionary measures on war-footings.
The livestock department has sprayed in and around the deceased home after confirmation of report from NIH, Islamabad today, Dr Khalil said and added that he was monitoring the complete situation himself.
When contacted, Focal person for infectious diseases at Nishtar, Irfan Arshad confirmed that Abdul Kareem was tested positive with Congo.
"We have kept the patient in isolation ward. Samples of the patient were sent to National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad for confirmation whether Kareem was suffering from Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) or not. Today, we received his reportswhich declared him positive with Congo." he informed.
