Kiev forces have committed 99 ceasefire violations in Ukraine's eastern Donbas region over the past week, firing dozens of mortars at the territory of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), the republic's representative at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) said on Monday.

DONETSK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 28th January, 2019) Kiev forces have committed 99 ceasefire violations in Ukraine's eastern Donbas region over the past week, firing dozens of mortars at the territory of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), the republic's representative at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) said on Monday.
A new ceasefire agreement entered into force in Donbas on December 29, 2018, ahead of the New Year's holidays, traditionally celebrated in Russia in early January.
"Between January 21 and January 27, the Ukrainian armed formations violated the ceasefire regime 99 times. Twenty-three 120-milimeter mortars and 15 82-milimeter mortars were fired at the territory of the [Donetsk People's] republic, two buildings were damaged," the representative told reporters.
The warring parties are also bound by another major ceasefire deal, which was signed in the Belarusian capital in 2015 under the mediation of France, Germany and Russia, members of the so-called Normandy Four group. Both the Donbas self-proclaimed republics and Kiev regularly accuse each other of ceasefire violations.
The self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics have been engaged in an armed conflict with Kiev for several years. The war erupted after Donetsk and Luhansk refused to recognize the new Ukrainian authorities who came to power in 2014.
