The political chief of the Palestinian militant group of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, will begin his foreign tour, during which he will visit Russia, on Thursday, a source in Hamas told Sputnik on Wednesday.
"Tomorrow, on Thursday, Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas Ismail Haniyeh will fly to Cairo, accompanied by a delegation of the Hamas leadership to meet with Egyptian officials," the source said.
After discussing the Palestinian crisis settlement in Cairo, the Hamas leader will pay visits to other countries.
"When Haniyeh's visit to Cairo is over, he will begin a foreign tour, the first after he has assumed the post of head of the Hamas Political Bureau, which will include a number of states in the region and the capital of Russia, Moscow, in response to an invitation from the Russian Foreign Ministry," the source added.
According to the source, Hamas attaches great importance to the visit to Russia, taking into account the "role of Russia in supporting the Palestinian issues" and hopes that Moscow will contribute to the Palestinian crisis settlement.
