According to the statement, the two politicians discussed urgent issues of bilateral cooperation as well as regional and international agenda.
"The leaders also discussed the schedule of the upcoming meetings, including preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in St. Petersburg," the statement said.
According to the Kazakh presidential press service, the conversation was held at the initiative of the Russian side.
The Russian presidential press service said that Putin had informed the Kazakh counterpart about his contacts at the 13th East Asia Summit in Singapore.
"Some urgent issues of cooperation within the integration organizations in the Eurasian region have also been discussed," the Kremlin press service noted.
The Kremlin said that Putin had also held a phone conversation with his Kyrgyz counterpart Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
"During the phone conversation with the Kyrgyz president Russian President Vladimir Putin sincerely congratulated Sooronbay Jeenbekov on his 60th birthday. The leaders have also agreed to maintain further contacts," the Kremlin added.
