Militants Destroyed Two-Thirds Of Housing, 90% Of Industry In Aleppo Province - Governor

Militants have destroyed two-thirds of housing in Syrias Aleppo province and 90 percent of industrial facilities, regional governor Hussein Diab said Thursday.
ALEPPO (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th August, 2018) Militants have destroyed two-thirds of housing in Syrias Aleppo province and 90 percent of industrial facilities, regional governor Hussein Diab said Thursday.
"The war left terrible traces in the city and province [of Aleppo]. Militants destroyed two-thirds of the housing stock and 90 percent of the industry," Diab said.
He said that the authorities had begun to rebuild industrial infrastructure of Aleppo, focusing on energy-related sites.
By now, 400 transformer substations have been rebuilt and the water supply to the city of Aleppo has been restored, according to the governor.
The city of Aleppo was one of the main battlegrounds of the civil war in Syria between the government forces and numerous terrorist groups and opposition factions. On December 21, 2016, the Syrian army liberated Aleppo with the support of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
