New Round Of US-China Trade Talks To Take Place On April 30, May 8 - White House

US media reports last week said that trade officials from Beijing and Washington were planning a new round of negotiations later this month and hoped to wrap up a final agreement by late May or early June.

"At President Donald J. Trump's direction, United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin will travel to Beijing for continued negotiations on the trade relationship between the United States and China.� The talks will begin on April 30, 2019.

Beijing and Washington have been embroiled in a trade dispute since June, when US President Donald Trump announced the United States would impose 25 percent tariffs on Chinese goods worth of $50 billion in a bid to fix the US-Chinese trade deficit. Since then, the two countries have exchanged several rounds of trade tariffs.
