Over 50% Of Russians Assess Current State Of Armed Forces As 'Good,' 'Excellent' - Poll

Over fifty percent of Russian citizens have a positive assessment of the current state of the country's Armed Forces, saying that it is "good" or "excellent," a fresh poll by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) showed on Friday.

While 53 percent of the respondents said that the situation in the Russian Armed Forces was either "good" or "excellent," 22 percent qualified it as "satisfactory." Only seven percent of the interviewees assess the situation as "bad" or "very bad."
Most of the respondents, 86 percent, said that the Russian Armed Forces were able to ensure the national security, while six percent feel the opposite, and seven percent were undecided.
A total of 64 percent of the interviewees agreed with the statement that every man must undergo military service, while 34 percent voiced their belief that the Armed Forces should be mostly comprised of contracted soldiers.
The poll was conducted on October 13-14, with 1,500 respondents surveyed in 53 out of 85 Russian Federal subjects. The error margin does not exceed 3.6 percent.
