Qatar Supplies Somalia With 68 Armored Vehicles - Defense Ministry

DOHA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th January, 2019) Qatar has given 68 armed vehicles to Somalia's Armed Forces in a move to back the country's government, the Qatari Defense Ministry said.

"The Republic of Somalia has accepted the military assistance from the Qatari Armed Forces, which has arrived in the port of Mogadishu, for strengthening its government structures and the internationally recognized Federal government and support its numerous efforts to establish safety and fight terrorism and extremism," the ministry wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

Doha has been supporting Mogadishu by providing funding and military assistance to it.

Last December, Qatar donated 20 armored vehicles to Somalia to support its fight against Islamist insurgency.
