Senior US Diplomat Hale To Visit Japan, 3 Other Asian Countries Next Week - State Dept.

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 26th April, 2019) Senior US State Department official David Hale will travel to Asia next week to meet with counterparts in Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar and Japan, the Department of State said in a press release on Thursday.
"Under Secretary for Political Affairs David Hale Travels to Indonesia, Thailand, Burma, and Japan," the release said. "Under Secretary for Political Affairs David Hale will travel to Indonesia, Thailand, Burma, and Japan from April 29 to May 6, 2019."
Hale will have his first meeting on April 29 in Jakarta, Indonesia where he will sit down with his counterparts and ASEAN Permanent Representatives to discuss their strategic partnership in the Indo-Pacific region, the release said.
On April 30, Hale will meet with Thai officials in Bangkok to discuss bilateral, regional, and ASEAN priorities, the release said.
Hale will then visit Myanmar on May 1-3 to meet with government officials and civic leaders where he will underscore the need to end the conflict in the country and resolve the humanitarian and human rights crisis in the Rakhine State, the release said.
Hale will conclude his trip in Tokyo where he will discuss with his counterparts matters relevant to the US-Japan alliance and bilateral issues of mutual interest, the release added.
