Syrian Parliament Deputy Speaker Urges Kurds to Trust Damascus During Negotiations

Deputy Speaker of the Syrian parliament Najdat Anzour urged the leadership of the Syrian Kurds to abandon the "tricks" and political games against Damascus and to trust the Syrian authorities, as the United States cannot be trusted

DAMASCUS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th January, 2019) Deputy Speaker of the Syrian parliament Najdat Anzour urged the leadership of the Syrian Kurds to abandon the "tricks" and political games against Damascus and to trust the Syrian authorities, as the United States cannot be trusted.

An official representative of the Syrian Kurds in Moscow, Rshad Bienaf, told Sputnik on Monday that the negotiations between the Syrian Kurds and Damascus have been frozen after a bilateral meeting did not yield any results.

"Tricks can hurt those who they come from ... We are extremely saddened, and it will harm those who allegedly represent them [Kurds] ... Americans cannot be trusted, and the Turks are a real threat .

.. The Kurds must rely on the source of trust - Damascus, not on anyone else," Anzour told Al Watan newspaper, commenting on the statements made by the Syrian Kurds.

On Wednesday, Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad said that Damascus stepped up negotiations with the Kurds in the northeast of Syria in light of a possible Turkish military operation in the northern Syrian town of Manbij.

In December, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkey was ready to launch an operation against the Kurdish-led People's Protection Units (YPG) in Manbij if the United States does not remove the militia from there.
