UN Syria Envoy To Return To Damascus After Talks In Russia - Guterres

New UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen will discuss the creation of the Syrian constitutional committee during his visit to Moscow next week, and he will return to Damascus after his trip to Russia, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres told reporters in a press conference on Friday

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th January, 2019) New UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen will discuss the creation of the Syrian constitutional committee during his visit to Moscow next week, and he will return to Damascus after his trip to Russia, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres told reporters in a press conference on Friday.

"Mr. Pedersen had the first visit to Damascus.

The visit was very constructive," Guterres said. "He is meeting today the [Syrian Negotiating Committee] ... What I could from this contact obtain was also that discussion are being very constructive. From there he will be going to Moscow. He'll be coming back to Damascus and of course the creation of the constitutional committee will be central in the agendas of discussion of my special representative."
