US Vice President Pence Begins 4-Nation Tour With Japan Visit

US Vice President Mike Pence on Monday started his four-nation tour with Japan visit.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th November, 2018) US Vice President Mike Pence on Monday started his four-nation tour with Japan visit.

"@SecondLady & I just landed in Tokyo, Japan. I'll be meeting with Japanese Prime Minister @AbeShinzo to discuss our important alliance, our economic relationship, negotiations for a free-trade agreement & our commitment to denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," Pence wrote on Twitter.

In an article for The Washington Post newspaper released last week, Pence outlined the main objectives of the US policies in the Indo-Pacific region.

Speaking about Japan specifically, Pence touched upon the upcoming talks on concluding a free-trade agreement with Tokyo and military cooperation between the nations.

During his trip, Pence will participate in the US-Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit and the East Asia Summit in Singapore and the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Papua New Guinea. The US vice president is also expected to travel to Australia during his week-long trip that will last through Sunday.
