Saudi Border Guards Evacuate 31 Sailors From Vessel on Fire in Red Sea - Reports

DUBAI (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 10th April, 2019) Saudi border guards evacuated 31 sailors from a cargo ship under the flag of Panama, which caught fire in the Red Sea, the Saudi Gazette reported on Tuesday.

According to the publication, the crew of the Al Fayrouz ship sent a distress call due to a fire on board, being 60 nautical miles west of Farasan Island.

There were 27 Egyptians, two Indians and two Sudanese aboard the ship, all of whom were rescued and taken to the Saudi port of Jizan.

According to the Maritime rescue coordination center in the Saudi city of Jeddah, the vessel left by the crew suffered heavy damage. The environmental situation is being monitored at the scene.
