Banking Mohtasib Provides Relief Of Over Rs 882 Mln To Consumers During First Half Of 2025

The Banking Mohtasib of Pakistan provided financial relief amounting to Rs. 882.25 million to banking consumers during the first half of 2025 (January to June), after resolving over 16,000 complaints (16,006) filed by customers
KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jul, 2025) The Banking Mohtasib of Pakistan provided financial relief amounting to Rs. 882.25 million to banking consumers during the first half of 2025 (January to June), after resolving over 16,000 complaints (16,006) filed by customers.
In comparison, during the same period last year, more than 12,568 complaints were addressed, and relief of Rs. 681.07 mln was provided. This reflects a significant increase of approximately 4,000 resolved complaints and Rs. 201 million more in financial relief in 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
During the first half of 2025, nearly 94% of the complaints (15,084) were amicably resolved, while only 6% (922) required formal hearings, resulting in official orders issued by the Banking Mohtasib.
The data also indicates that the number of complaints filed against commercial banks remains consistently high. Between January 1 and June 30, 2025, a total of 16,915 new complaints were received, including 3,482 complaints submitted via the Prime Minister's Portal.
To protect banking consumers from fraud and scams, the Banking Mohtasib of Pakistan, Sirajuddin Aziz, strongly urged consumers not to disclose personal or financial information to any unauthorized individuals. He advised that in case of suspicious calls, consumers should immediately contact their bank's nearest branch or helpline.
