ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 15th Jan, 2019) Ambitious plans are currently underway to ensure agricultural sustainability and food security in Abu Dhabi, according to the emirate's Food Control Authority Director.
Saeed Al Bahari Salem Al Ameri, Director of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, ADFCA, said that the authority is working on an ambitious plan to achieve agricultural sustainability, as well as to support the overall scientific research efforts to enhance food security mechanisms.
He highlighted the authority’s keenness to invest in future technologies and create innovative and sustainable solutions to overcome environmental and climate challenges, with the aim of identifying the best technologies and the most suitable agricultural methods for the local environment and local farmers and private sector companies, to achieve sustainability in these areas.
In a statement marking Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week proceedings, Al Ameri noted that Abu Dhabi has accomplished significant achievements in adopting a comprehensive sustainability strategy, including agricultural and food sustainability, through its interest in sustainable development and income diversification, as well as through creating an economy based on non-oil sectors, to maintain its leadership in the Global Competitiveness Index and adopt a knowledge-based economy, which will contribute to the Abu Dhabi 2030 Economic Vision.
The authority aims to achieve sustainability in the agricultural and livestock sectors, by attracting major international exhibitions related to agricultural and food innovation, such as the Global Forum for Innovations in Agriculture, and SIAL middle East, among others, Al Ameri concluded.
