Egypt's interior ministry said in a statement on Monday that six terrorists have been killed in a shootout with police in 6 October City on the outskirts of the capital.
CAIRO, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 13th Aug, 2018) Egypt's interior ministry said in a statement on Monday that six terrorists have been killed in a shootout with police in 6 October City on the outskirts of the capital.
''Police forces had received information that a group of terrorists were using a residential house in 6 October as a hideout and were planning on carrying out "violent operations," said the ministry in a statement.
The raid was carried out based on intelligence obtained by the National Security Agency.
"Information had revealed that the terrorists planned to implement a series of hostile operations targeting vital state institutions, Christian churches, and military and police personnel during the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday," the statement added.
Egypt's police forces have recently been carrying out a number of raids on terrorists involved in executing or attempting to carry out hostile acts throughout the country.
