DUBAI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 16th Dec, 2018) The Heritage and Community Committee of the World Games of the Supreme Committee for hosting the Special Olympics 2019 in Abu Dhabi continued its regular meeting to discuss the latest plans, programmes and initiatives to host the games, as part of the Host Cities Programme for Special Olympics.
The meeting was headed by Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development and Chairperson of the Committee, along with representatives and members of supporting entities, including Federal, government and semi-government sectors, as well as the executive committee of the local committee for Special Olympic International Games.
In a statement, Buhumaid, said, "The meeting enhances and fulfils high national expectations and builds confidence about the role of the community and heritage committee, and in support of the diversified success for the events, initiatives and programmes of the Special Olympics. It is very important to pay attention to the details, initiatives and programmes that complete the leading international role of the UAE.
"
Buhumaid noted that success could not be accomplished without the cooperation and solidarity of all parties. She went on to say that in regards to volunteering, the volunteer’s role is not limited to only guidance and mentoring, but it is an essential part and an influential factor in encouraging sustainable community participation. The Minister said that the national volunteering web platform helped organisers identify skilled volunteers, with a range of hobbies and interests, to ensure the success of the Special Olympics 2019 in Abu Dhabi.
The host cities programme is one of the most important events associated with an international sporting event and requires all community members to participate in making this mega event a success, especially because it deals with persons with disabilities. The host cities programme enhances the role of the UAE community in supporting People of Determination across all entities.
