Shipping Activity At Port Qasim

KARACHI (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 03rd Jan, 2017 ) : Shipping activity remained active at the Port where four ships C.V Al-Bahia, C.V MSC Silvana, M.V Glory navigator and M.T Brizo carrying Containers, Canola seeds and Furnace oil were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday, January 2.
Meanwhile three more ships with containers, Chemicals and LNG also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours. Fifty three percent berth occupancy was observed at the Port on Tuesday where a total of eight ships namely Al-Bahia, MSC Silvana, Mariman, Amoy Action, Glory Navigator, Igic Anka, Maria-III and Brizo are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Rice, Coal, Canola seeds, LPG, Palm oil and Diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 94,441 tonnes comprising 69,522 tonnes import cargo and 24,889 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,825 Containers (TEUs) 880 imports TUEs & 945 TUEs exports) was handled at the Port.
Two ships, Container ship Al-Bahia and LPG carrier Maria-III are expected to sail on today afternoon. Four ships C.V Maersk Detroit, M.T Bochem Chennani, M.T Atlantic Glory and M.T Umm Bab carrying Containers, Palm oil, Chemicals and LNG are expected to take berths at QICT, LCT, EVTL and EETL respectively on Tuesday, 3nd January, while two more ships Maersk Stepnica and MSC Asya are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday, 4th January-2017.
