NA speaker, Bilawal made sure that the prime minister and opposition leader reach consensus upon a name
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 29th May, 2018) National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari played an important role in the appointment of Justice (r) Nasir-ul-Mulk as the caretaker prime minister of the country.
According to a news report published in a local newspaper, the NA speaker played key role in making sure that the prime minister and opposition leader reach a consensus upon the name of caretaker prime minister.
Reliable sources said that the PPP chairman also extended complete support to Khurshid Shah and made him agree to a name that was not suggested by the party. There were some people in the PPP who were not happy with any name other than those suggested by PPP – Salim Abbas Jillani, Jalil Abbas Jillani and Zaka Ashraf.
PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had cleared these Names.
The opposition leader also did not want the matter to be referred to a parliamentary committee. Sources said that Shah received great support from Bilawal who instead of adopting a stricter stance, handed over the matter to prime minister and opposition leader. Bilawal’s opinion was endorsed in his party as well.
In 2012, Justice (r) Nasir ul Mulk had headed the five-member bench who announced punishment for then prime minister Yusaf Raza Gillani. PPP’s consent to the name regardless of this is being appreciated by many in the political circles.
