China Ready For JVs In Pakistan SME-dominant Sectors

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -5th Sep,2016) : A 30-member Chinese trade delegation Leader Mr. Zhanghua said on Monday that China was ready to develop joint ventures in the SME-dominant sectors of Pakistan's industry.
He expressed these views in a meeting with SMEDA (Small and Medium Development Authority) CEO Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry and other officers- General Manager (Outreach Division) Raja Hassanien Javed, Provincial Chief (SMEDA-Punjab) and Head of SMEDA External Relations Department Sheharyar Tahir.
Mr. Zhanghua said his delegation was comprised of entrepreneurs dealing in the fields of international logistics, building materials, high-end clothing production, supply-chain process, furniture, steel structure and export-import business.
"We have come to Pakistan to strengthen trade and investment relations with Pakistani counterparts in the said fields," he added. He mentioned that SME sector in China had a great significance in China's GDP having major contributions in export and import business as well.
He observed that in view of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, SMEs development process in Pakistan had a wide scope of joint ventures with Chinese SMEs especially in the fields of logistics, trucking, cold storage and supply chain business.
He agreed to organize sector-specific Chinese delegation to visit Pakistan in future. He also invited SMEDA officials to visit logistics trade fair to be held in China, which he named as the largest trade of fair of China.
Leader of the Chinese delegation acknowledged that Punjab province of Pakistan and Shandong province of China being the sister provinces were performing great services in promoting trade and investment relations between Pakistan and China.
He observed that both the provinces would play vital role in developing joint ventures in the SME-dominant sectors of China and Pakistan. Earlier, Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, GM-Outreach welcomed the delegation along with his senior team members and apprised the Chinese entrepreneurs about SMEDA's functions followed by a detailed presentation by Sheharyar Tahir, Head External Relations of SMEDA.
SMEDA functionaries urged the Chinese entrepreneurs to come forward for rapid development of SMEs in Pakistan. They were of the view that Chinese experience and cooperation in SME development could accelerate pace of SME development in Pakistan.
They said that Pakistan had a great potential of joint ventures with China in SME based sectors including agro-food processing, gems and jewelry, automobiles and construction. They also offered Chinese delegation to set up a Pak-China Desk in SMEDA Head Office to facilitate trade and investments relations between China and Pakistan, which would be extended to countrywide through 25 regional business centers of SMEDA mostly situated in the premises of chambers of commerce and industry.
