Senate Standing Committee on Rules and Privileges Wednesday discussed amendments in Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of Senate introduced by Senator Quratulain Marri in a meeting earlier held on December 18
Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq chaired the committee meeting.
The committee debated changes in various rules and looked into the pros and cons of the amendments.
The committee also reviewed the status of implementation of assurance given on the matter of unsuitable attitude of an airhostess of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) with Senator Sajid Mir.
The chair noted that in the last meeting of the committee on January 17, Minister In charge for Aviation Muhammadmian Soomro and Chief Pilot South assured that an inquiry into the matter would be held and report would be put before the committee but it was not done.
Secretary Aviation told the committee that action had been taken against the air hostess. The Committee chair said one last opportunity would be given to the aviation ministry to hold an inquiry against the air hostess and present a report to the committee.
The committee directed that it should be informed of the standard operating procedures prepared for improving behaviour of airline staff with the passengers.
Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Senator Khanzada, Senator Manzoor Kakar, Senator Kenneth Williams, Senator Quratulain Marri and officials of ministries of Parliamentary Affairs and Aviation attended the meeting.
