Development Schemes To Be Aligned With Vision 2025 In FATA

The development schemes in merged districts of erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) would be aligned with vision 2025 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets
Senior officials of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa informed the meeting of Senate Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions here at Parliament House on Thursday.
The committee met under the chairmanship of Senator Taj Muhammad Afridi, chairman of the committee.
The meeting was attended by Senators including Hidayatullah, Hilalur Rehman, Lt. General Salahuddin Tirmizi, Sajjad Hussain Turi, Sardar Shammim Afridi and Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan Nasar. The meeting was also attended by senior officials of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Ministry of Finance.
The committee discussed in details the ADP 2018-2019, registration of Temporary Displaced Persons (TDPs) of Khyber Agency and Directorate of Health FATA.
The committee was informed that number of initiatives was being taken to bring progress and prosperity in the merged districts of FATA.
Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that impact and evaluation studies would be conducted to analysis the overall development activities in merged districts.
He said that community based micro hydle power stations would be installed in the merged districts for domestic purpose.
He er informed that Primary level education would be promoted through education emergency programme in FATA.
The committee informed that free texts books was being provided to students upto class 12th, adding that BS Programme would be initiated in existing colleges.
The officials also briefed the committee about the development budget for merged areas annual development program 2018-19 is reflected in the PSDP as block allocation in the SAFRON Division.
"An amount of Rs.24500.00 million was allocated in PSDP 2018-19. The merged areas ADP 2018-19 have been approved in the provincial cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa" the officials added.
They said that local component of block allocation is further divided between merged areas of ADP and FATA Development Authority. The allocation for merged areas ADP 2018-19 is Rs.20400.00 million.
