The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, A.D Khawaja in a meeting Thursday directed urgent preparation of a contingency plan for the province, focused on security arrangements and traffic management, on eve of Eid Milad un Nabi

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Nov, 2017 ) :The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, A.D Khawaja in a meeting Thursday directed urgent preparation of a contingency plan for the province, focused on security arrangements and traffic management, on eve of Eid Milad un Nabi.

The contingency plan, he said must incorporate a comprehensive strategy to meet series of challenges faced at district, range and zone levels across the province. Special measures must be adopted for the 12th day of Rabi-ul- Awwal in particular and the holy month in general, said the police chief seeking close coordination among the police department, Pakistan Rangers - Sindh as well as other law enforcing and intelligence agencies.

Under the contingency plan, IGP-Sindh said all stakeholders should be taken on board ensuring that Loud Speakers' Act is strictly enforced and that provocative speeches or renditions, wall chalking or distribution of such material may not be allowed under any condition.

As for Rabi ul Awwal 12, he said fool-proof security arrangements must be in place at the main procession route with due provision for sweeping by bomb disposal squad besides deployment of sharp shooters on high rise on the routes.

A.D Khawaja also sought details for provision of watch towers, monitoring of parking lots (with special provision of inner - outer cordon), random snap checking, patrolling, picketing of the routes.

Similar measures, he said must be ensured for public gatherings arranged to hold Milad at different mosques, Imam bargahs and open sites. "For Rabi ul Awwal 12 there must be ready availability of reserve police platoons," he said emphasizing that riot police must also be kept on high alert.

"This is extremely important as miscreants and terrorist elements may take advantage of even a minor lapse," said the police chief. He also ordered coordination among all district level police control rooms and their round the clock connection with the central control room for urgent sharing of information and timely compliance of needed interventions.

IGP-Sindh said a special traffic management plan must also be developed, with provision for alternative routes, so that no inconvenience is caused to the people. The traffic plan, he said must be duly communicated to the commuters via media.
