ISLAMABAD, Nov 3 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 03rd Nov, 2016 ) : Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday adjourned hearing of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf's (PTI) plea against imposition of section 144 in the Federal capital for two months by the ICT administration.
Justice Athar Minallah heard the case filed by Member National Assembly of PTI Asad Omer against imposition of section 144 in the federal capital. During the proceeding of the case, the counsel for the petitioner Farukh Daal argued that the imposition of section 144 was a violation of human rights.
He prayed the court to declare the imposition of section 144 void along with arrests of PTI workers made under this section 144 contrary to the provisions of the constitution regarding protection of human rights of citizens.
However, on behalf of the District Administration Islamabad, Magistrate Ali Javed requested the court to grant time to file reply, which was granted by the court accepting the request. The bench adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite time.
It may be mentioned here that the District Magistrate Islamabad had imposed section 144 in the city on October 27, for a period of two months. The District Administration had prohibited the gathering of five or more people, all kind of procession and demonstration within the limits of federal capital. The notification was challenged by the PTI in Islamabad High Court (IHC).
