Speaker, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Assembly, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani Wednesday said that harmony among different departments is need of the hour adding that the provincial assembly will make legislation in this regard
He said that identical activities are going on by departments and they even challenge ambit of the authority of each others.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting regarding penalties and taxes imposed by different departments on shopkeepers during the checking of the prices of essentials in bazaars here in KP Assembly Secretariat.
The authorities of food, excise, local governments, KP Halal Food Authority, tourism, environment, industries, finance, law and home departments attended the meeting.
The Speaker KP assembly said that the protection of the rights of people is the responsibility of elected representatives while service of the people is the duty of the public servant.
He said that three to four different departments are conducting raids on hotels, butchers and shopkeepers etc and imposing penalties and recovery of taxes from them, which is injustice with the trading community.
He was of the opinion that such steps not only weaken the writ of the government rather also generateimpression that government is not the supervisor of their interest and rather is enemy and the traders face dual taxation.
