Massive Drive Needed To Create Awareness About Negative Impacts Of Noise Pollution

There is a dire need to start a massive drive against the use of pressure horns, speakers in order to avoid health and environment complications in the twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Mar, 2018 ) :There is a dire need to start a massive drive against the use of pressure horns, speakers in order to avoid health and environment complications in the twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
According to an environment expert, the quarters concerned should take immediate steps to get rid of the noise pollution as it is negative effects on people lives both physically and psychologically.
Talking to APP, Ministry of Climate Change official Zil-e-Huma informed that they had recently celebrated the forest day titled with forest and sustainable cities focused to plant the more trees in cities that would act as barrier for noise pollution and avoid the din from reaching to the residential areas.
She said the ministry was also taking actions against those industries creating cacophony in populous areas. Shehzad Satti at Abpara said the menace of noise pollution should be dealt with iron hand and authorities concerned not only impose the fine on violators but also seized their vehicles.
Abid Qureshi from Rawalpindi said vehicular sounds were not only the cause of noise pollution as there were several other sources that created the unwanted sounds. He said he had gone to attend a friend's marriage few days ago where drums were beaten so loudly and the music system was also played on high pitch that caused palpitations in my heart and despite completely covering my ears with my palms, the noise caused me to suffer a considerable loss of hearing.
Muhammad Javed, A traffic sergeant, urged the public to be civilized while plying their vehicles on roads by avoiding the use of double horns, open silencers and other noise creating tools. Dr Wasim Khawaja, a public health expert, said the noise pollution makes the public more vulnerable to the dangerous diseases like hypertension and high blood pressure.
He said there was a need to educate people about the health hazard effects of noise pollution and ask motorists to avoid using pressure horn and other devices that create noise. He said unfortunately due to lack of awareness many drivers even use pressure horn near hospitals, educational institutions and mosques without considering the negative impacts of this exercise on students and patients.
Dr Khawaja said it is the prime responsibility of traffic wardens, civil society and every segment of society to discourage this practice and create awareness in public against this socially unethical habit.
