Pakistan Donates Goods To Ragama Adolescent & Adult Thalassemia Care Centre

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2019 ) :Pakistan High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Maj. Gen. (R) Dr Shahid Ahmad Hashmat has handed over donations, including basic amenities worth of SL Rs 0.7 million to Ragama Adolescent & Adult Thalassemia Care Centre, North Colombo Teaching Hospital.
In a ceremony held at the High Commission of Pakistan in Colombo, he said that due to remarkable success in the reduction of childhood mortality by controlling infectious diseases in developing countries, thalassemias are likely to be a major public health concern in the coming decades in South Asia, according to a message received here.
� The high commissioner appreciated the efforts of the centre for its dedication to serve people afflicted with various forms of thalassemia.
It is the high time for the scholars and educationists to play their role in creating awareness about thalassemia disease among citizens and convince them to donate blood, which is the only life line and ray of hope for the survival of patients suffering from this disease.
