Pakistan Economy Needs Innovation: Experts

Industry in the country needs new vision and ideas to increase exports and cut imports to boost the national economy, and it is the responsibility of our universities to bridge the gap between industry and academia.
KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Sep, 2018 ) :Industry in the country needs new vision and ideas to increase exports and cut imports to boost the national economy, and it is the responsibility of our universities to bridge the gap between industry and academia.
The students, having own projects or ability to put up creative ideas, may be provided to industry. A comprehensive industry base conference should be conducted by every university annually so that the students might obtain very useful knowledge about industry. This will help them to do something extraordinary while joining any industry, recommended the Board of Industries of Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, in its meeting, said MAJU statement on Thursday.
The Board meeting was presided over by Associate Dean, MAJU, Dr. Shujaat Mubarak which was attended by senior faculty members Dr. Munir Hussain, Dr. S. M. Noman Shah, Hassan Javed and Ali Nasir. External members of the board of Industries including Nadeem Molvi, Owais Afridi and Ferhan Pervez were also present.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Shujaat Mubarak said Pakistan's economics structure needs innovation as Pakistan had been exporting some specific and traditional products that is, textile, leather and rice.
Unless the industries go for innovation and diversification, the country's exports cannot boost.
" Now, the time has come to export more new products to make a place in international trade and to find new markets for our products," he asserted.
He said that our universities required a better linkage with our industry enabling the students to know what was happening there, what were the issues and what should the domain of their research.
He advised university students to come out from their books and get practical knowledge about industry so that they might start their career in industry confidently to do something new.
