Process Of Afghan Refugees Repatriation From Pakistan Accelerates

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Augst,2016) : The process of Afghan refugees repatriation from Pakistan has accelerated as more than 20,000 Afghan refugees returned to Afghanistan in the month of July.
The number of repatriating of Afghan refugees voluntarily returning Afghanistan from Pakistan has increased as compared to their number in the first six months of the past year. In this connection, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR) has accelerated activities to provide facilities to the outgoing Afghan refugees.
Talking to VOA, UNCHR spokesperson in Peshawar, Samad Khan has said that about 1070 Afghan refugee families had returned to Afghanistan between January and June while their number between July and August is registered as 19,530.
He informed that UNCHR is in constant contact with Pakistan's institution, Afghan Commissionerate, and has prepared a scheduled for taking Afghan representatives and elders into confidence in this regard.
Statistically, 1.5 million Afghan refugees have legally been living in Pakistan while a similar number staying illegally in different parts of the country. Meanwhile, the government of Pakistan had extended the deadline by six months, which will end on December 31, 2016.
