Senate Body Directs PD, SID To Resolve Pending Payments Issue

Senate Standing Committee on Power Tuesday directed Power Division (PD) and Sindh Irrigation Department (SID) to join heads for resolving the matter of pending payment of share to the Irrigation Department on account of construction of X-regulator at RD-45 B.S. Feeder Guddu.
The Committee was informed that the payment would be made once the irrigation department submits record of invoices or audit.
The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Senator Fida Muhammad here at the Parliament House and was attended by Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan, Secretary Power Irfan Ali among others.
The Committee discussed in detail the matters relating to electricity distribution in tribal areas by Tribal Electricity Supply Company (TESCO) and called for early resolution of pending issues relating to over-billing, metering, allocation for projects, and inquiring involvement of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) officials and locals in theft and losses.
The Committee also directed Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (IESCO) to resolve the complaints of accumulative billing in Parliament Lodges and decided to coordinate a meeting with Deputy Chairman Senate and Deputy Speaker National Assembly along with concerned officials to resolve pending payments from previous members and staff.
