Universities Role For Community Development Highlighted

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Nov, 2016 ) : Universities have a pivotal role to play towards the societal and community development. This was stated by the Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, Prof.
Dr. Muhammad Qaiser on Monday. He said that the universities are responsible of interacting and engaging all the communities of the country since Pakistan is a multicultural community and that they are the best platform of multicultural unity which is a dire need of today.
Vice-Chancellor pointed out that different community development programs are successfully underway in Karachi University in various departments especially in the Department of Public Administration.
He was addressing the Panel Discussion on the occasion of the Inauguration Ceremony of Active Citizens University Model (Citizenship education and Community Engagement Program) Training of Facilitators organized by University of Karachi in collaboration with British Council at the Campus.
Dr. Qaiser added that universities have a responsibility of uniting the youth regardless of their cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Prof. Dr. Khalid Iraqi, Dean Faculty of Management and Administrative Sciences KU, while delivering the welcome address lauded British Council for the program and added that the particular program has a deep impact on the students of Karachi University.
He was of the view that collective efforts are key to community development and it's the responsibility of the societal institutions to collaborate and empower the youth for bringing a positive change in the society.
This program is training faculty members of different varsities of the country about latest trends of the modern time so that they could promote innovative and critical thinking among students. The program will continue till Friday.
