Football: Lloris Backs Spurs To Come Through Kane Absence

LONDON, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -19th Sept,2016) - Hugo Lloris believes Tottenham Hotspur have the strength in depth to overcome the absence of Harry Kane if their star striker has a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
England international Kane twisted his ankle after scoring in the 1-0 Premier League win over Sunderland on Sunday and had to be taken off on a stretcher towards the end of the match. Kane, 23, was seen leaving White Hart Lane on crutches and wearing a protective boot on his right foot, with Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino admitting his forward may have suffered ligament damage.
Kane was due to undergo tests on Monday, and if he is on the sidelines for any length of time the north London side will turn to recent signing Vincent Janssen to fill the gap. "We just hope it is not too bad," goalkeeper Lloris said.
"It is true that, if you look at the images, we can be a bit worried, but all the medical staff are going to try to bring him back as quick as possible." The France captain added: "We have a competitive team and are fully confident in every player.
When one player is missing, it gives an opportunity to another player to bring his skills, energy and quality." Tottenham's victory over Sunderland saw them go third in the Premier League and came after manager Pochettino had accused his players of a lack of passion following their Champions League defeat by Monaco last week.
"Did the criticism hurt? Yes, but you know it is only the truth," Lloris said. "He doesn't lie to his players and it was the case after the Monaco game. In the changing room after the game, it was a bit sad and we were very disappointed."
