PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jan, 2018 ) :Promising Qari Israr led the opening day round with his total points of 277 and succeeded in bewildering fellow competitors in the National Men and Women Archery Championship, which got under way with the collaboration of Pakistan Archery Federation and Directorate of sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here at Qayyum Sports on Monday.

Qari Israr, who also clinched the trophy of the Capital Development Authorities (CDA) Winter Sports Gala held in Islamabad, recorded a stunning performance by securing 277 points including four (10-pointer), eight times (9-pointer) and ten times (8-pointer) by leaving behind all the other national and international archers in the three-day contests.

Former Sports Minister KP Syed Aqil Shah was the chief guest on this occasion who formally inaugurated the Championship by hitting a 70-meter target. Secretary Pakistan Archery Federation Muhammad Wisal Khan, Associate Secretary Pakistan Olympic Association Zulfiqar Ali Butt, national archery level-11 coach Sarfaraz Khan, players, officials and large number of spectators were also present.

In his welcome address Muhammad Wisal Khan said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa got distinction by hosting the National Archery for the third times out of a total five times National Championship. He said lauded President Pakistan Olympic Association Lt.

Gen. (Retd) Arif Hassan, who is also President Pakistan Archery Federation, for extending all out support for the holding of this prestigious Championship in which teams from Punjab, Sindh, FATA, Islamabad, Pakistan Police, Pakistan Customs, Pakistan Wapda, Pakistan Army, Higher education Commission and host Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are taking part in three different categories comprising Individual category, Team event and Mix-Team event.

International archer of Pakistan Army with his 276 points struggling at second position by hitting will be gracing the occasion as the chief guest at the closing ceremony three 10 pointers, eight times 9-pointer and eight times 8-pointer.

Usama Mustafa of Pakistan Police with 265 is struggling on third position in the opening round by hitting three 10-pointer, four 9-pointer and eleven times 8-pointer. He played well but just missing the target and that is why he hits 11-times the 8-pointer.

Danish of Pakistan Wapda was on fourth position with his total score 241 points with two 10-pointer, four 9-pointer and nine 8-pointer. He was followed by Kashif Ahmad of Pakistan Police with 234 points with two times 10-pointer, three times 9-pointer and eight-times eight pointer.

Syed Taimur of Punjab with 233 points including no 10-pointer, five times 9-pointer and nine-times 8-pointer. Abdur Rehman of Punjab with 212 points including no 10-pointer, six times 9-pointer and eight times 8-pointer.

Arsalan Fahim of Punjab with his 203 points hitting two 10-pointer, one time 9-pointer and seven times 8-pointer, followed by Muhammad Arsalan of Punjab with 198 points including two 10-pointer, four-times 9-pointer and four-times 8-pointer.

Waqas of KP with 166 points with two times 10 pointers, three-times 9-pointer and one time 8-pointer. Muhammad Amjad of Higher Education Commission with his total score of 166 points with no 10-pointer, four times 9-pointer and four-times 8-pointer while Idrees of KP secured 142 points, two 10-pointers, four times 9-pointer and four times 8-pointer.

Three male and three female archers are representing their respective teams in the 70 meters contests being organized under the rules of World Archery Federation.
