Russian Curling Federation President Says Ready to Sue WADA Over Krushelnitckii Case

The Russian Curling Federation President Dmitry Svishchev told Sputnik on Wednesday that the organization is considering the possibility to file a lawsuit against the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) over its unwillingness to answer why it opposed the signing of the pre-trial agreement between Russian curler Aleksandr Krushelnitckii and the World Curling Federation (WCF).

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th September, 2018) The Russian Curling Federation President Dmitry Svishchev told Sputnik on Wednesday that the organization is considering the possibility to file a lawsuit against the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) over its unwillingness to answer why it opposed the signing of the pre-trial agreement between Russian curler Aleksandr Krushelnitckii and the World Curling Federation (WCF).

Krushelnitckii was tested positive for doping at the 2018 Winter Olympics, and then stripped of his bronze medal. Еу WCF was ready to have a pre-trial deal with the sportsman, but on Sunday Svishchev said that the federation withdrew its proposal due to WADA's protest.

"I wrote a letter to WADA that I would like to meet, because it is very important for me to know their position - why they suddenly protested the signing of the settlement agreement, what is the reason, what are those behind the scenes games.

There is no answer from WADA yet. The impression that I have is, unfortunately, that we will have to see them in court," Svishchev said.

The meeting of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Krushelnitckii's case will be held on September 19.

"The CAS meeting will be held with a 100-percent probability. Our big delegation including Krushelnitckii, me, the secretary general of our federation Olga Zharkova, and our lawyers will attend it," Svishchev added.
