Almost 300 Draft Evaders Pardoned in Syria - Russian Military

Hundreds of people who evaded draft in Syria have been pardoned by President Bashar Assad over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Syrian reconciliation center said Friday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th February, 2019) Hundreds of people who evaded draft in Syria have been pardoned by President Bashar Assad over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Syrian reconciliation center said Friday.

"The Syrian authorities continue to work on amnesty for those who evade from military service, including those among refugees and former members of illegal armed groups.

As for February 14, 2019, in total 53,047 were granted amnesty," it said in a daily bulletin.

This is 297 people more than the total shared by the Russian military on Thursday. Additionally, the number of Syrian refugees who have returned home has increased to 222,066 from 222,034. Russian military has handed out 500 food rations in the town of Tumin in the Hama province.
