BUENOS AIRES (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th January, 2019) Brazil recognizes and endorses Venezuela's opposition leader Juan Guaido as interim president and will provide political and economic support, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro said on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Guaido sworn in as acting president surrounded by thousands of supporters at a rally in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas. The Supreme Court of Venezuela said that all decisions that the opposition-controlled National Assembly might take would be considered invalid and called on the prosecutor's office to take the necessary measures against the lawmakers.
"Brazil recognizes Juan Guaido, who has assumed the authority of the president of Venezuela. Brazil will provide political and economic support for the transformation process," Bolsonaro wrote on Twitter.
Paraguay has also endorsed the opposition leader as Venezuela's president.
"Paraguay expresses its support for the acting president of Venezuela, Juan Guaido. Count on us in the matter of restoring freedom and democracy," Paraguayan President Mario Abdo Benitez wrote on Twitter.
Guaido has already been recognized as Venezuelan president by Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and the United States.
