MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th September, 2018) An expert commission set up by Russia's Energia space corporation to investigate the causes of the appearance of a hole in the hull of the Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft did not find any systemic problems in the spaceship manufacturing technology, First Deputy General Director of Roscosmos Nikolay Sevastyanov said on Tuesday.
"The commission came to the conclusion that the production process had not been violated, no systemic problems are visible," Sevastyanov told reporters.
On August 30, the crew of the International Space Station (ISS) detected an insignificant air leak, caused by a microfracture on a wall of the living section of the Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft, docked to the ISS. The hole was patched on the same day to restore the hermetic integrity of the ISS.
Initially, it was assumed that the hole could have appeared accidentally during the assembly of the ship, for example, it could have been drilled in a wrong place.
