Iran, Turkey Sign Agreement On Border Security

TEHRAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2019 ) :Iranian and Turkish delegates held a meeting in Van City to review safety of border lines and signed an agreement on border security.
According to Turkish media 'Anadolou news Agency' the meeting was co-chaired by Van Governor Mehmet Emin Bilmez and Khoy governor Mohammad Abedi.
Both sides discussed ways to ensure border security and campaign against terrorism and smuggling.
Bilmez expressed hope for mutual cooperation to develop security at borders.
He added that Van shares 285 km common border with Iran.
The Turkish official called for solving border trade problems and facilitating citizens commutes.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Bilmez wished for Iran-Turkey common borders to become an unsafe place for terrorists.
Meanwhile, Abedi described it as important border agreement on fighting terrorism, smuggling and trespass.
Last Tuesday, Orumiyeh Governor-General Alireza Molla Mohammadzadeh met with the governor of Hakkari province in Turkey on ways to beef-up border security.
The two sides also signed a deal on maintaining border security between the two border provinces.
