Iranian, Syrian Foreign Ministers Discuss Developments In Syria, Sochi Summit - Tehran

Iranian Foreign Minster Javad Zarif and his Syrian counterpart, Walid Muallem, discussed on Tuesday recent developments in Syria and the upcoming Russia-Iran-Turkey summit on Syria, The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement
"Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has held talks with his Syrian counterpart Walid Muallem on Tehran-Damascus relations and latest political developments in Syria ... The upcoming meeting among the leaders of Iran, Russia and Turkey in Russia's Sochi was another topic of discussion between the two ministers," the statement reads.
During the meeting, Zarif congratulated the Syrian authorities and people on their victories over terrorism and confirmed Iran's readiness to participate in the post-conflict reconstruction of Syria, the ministry said.
The meeting of representatives of the Astana format on the Syrian conflict settlement Turkey, Iran and Russia is scheduled to be held on February 14 in the Russian resort city of Sochi, according to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the government forces fighting against numerous opposition groups and militant and terrorist organizations. Russia, along with Turkey and Iran, is a guarantor of the ceasefire regime in Syria.
